Laura Stannard, a medical herbalist practising in Newcastle and North Staffordshire will be attending the annual conference of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists in central London from 4th to 5th November 2011. The Conference will be held at the Conway Hall, Red Lion Square WC1.
This will be the first meeting of the NIMH since the government announced its intention to introduce legislation to regulate herbalists. The two-day conference includes the 147th Annual General Meeting of the NIMH, as well as professional development seminars, which will focus on how herbalists work with patients with skin problems.
Laura Stannard said: “I am pleased to be attending this event. I am looking forward to attending the seminars given by the doctors and herbalists who work together in the dermatology unit at Whipps Cross hospital. It is always good to hear clinical experience.
“During the campaign for Statutory Regulation many people in Stoke, Newcastle, and Staffordshire wrote to their Members of Parliament and the Department of Health asking for their support to ensure statutory regulation went ahead. I will be representing these people at the Conference and helping to ensure that the strong tradition of herbal medicine in the Potteries and surrounding areas is kept alive, to continue to give the people of the area the choice of professional herbal medicine.”
The National Institute of Medical Herbalists is the world’s oldest association of herbalists and has been meeting annually for 147 years.
